Job Description

This is a very good time to join the Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Hawke’s Bay audit team. Having recently placed a highly regarded associate audit director into the business, we are now looking for an audit manager who wants to be part of something special. This role offers the chance to work closely with your peers in the leadership team to contribute to building on their culture and direction and make a visible impact on the organisation. For the right person, it’s not just a job - it’s an opportunity to grow, influence, and be part of a high‑performing team at a pivotal stage of its journey.

Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Hawkes Bay, although locally owned and operated, is part of New Zealand and international networks with global connections, has their feet firmly planted here in Hawke’s Bay. Locally their expertise is deep, and the culture is collaborative. With a team of close to 50 professionals, including auditors, HR advisors, and business consultants, they deliver trusted advice and meaningful impact for their clients and their own people.

As audit manager, you will play a key role in leading client engagements, managing an audit team, and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality assurance services across a diverse portfolio. You will oversee planning and execution of audits, provide technical guidance, and maintain strong client relationships. This requires a balance of hands‑on delivery and leadership which will see you span across everything from reviewing financial statements and risk assessments, to coaching staff and driving continuous improvement in audit processes. With a collaborative approach, you will also contribute to business development initiatives, helping to grow the business and strengthen its reputation in the market.

You will bring proven senior‑level experience leading audit teams, with deep knowledge of New Zealand audit standards and regulatory requirements, ideally from within a professional services firm. Commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships are a must. You will bring confidence in supporting and coordinating audit teams, helping to ensure effective and compliant audit processes are delivered through client engagements.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a well‑established, highly regarded, and connected professional services firm. Perfect time to carve yourself a spot here.
