CharteredPartners is seeking an experienced audit professional to join our client in Hong Kong at Director level. The successful candidate will lead audit delivery across a portfolio of listed and private clients, take day-to-day ownership of engagement quality and resourcing, and support the engagement partners through to sign-off. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery of statutory audits conducted under the Hong Kong Standards on Auditing (HKSA), managing engagements from planning to completion.
• Direct audit teams on listed (HKEX Main Board and GEM) and private clients, owning quality, timeliness and budget on each engagement.
• Review significant judgement areas and conclude on technical matters under HKFRS, escalating to the engagement partner where sign-off rests.
• Manage the relationship with finance directors and audit committees throughout the audit cycle.
• Support engagement partners on risk acceptance, scoping and engagement economics across the portfolio.
• Coach managers and seniors, building technical capability and HKICPA progression within the team.
• Contribute to practice development, including proposals, scoping and the conversion of referral leads.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, HKICPA, in good standing.
• Substantial post-qualification experience in external audit at manager or senior manager level and above.
• Strong working knowledge of the Hong Kong Standards on Auditing and HKFRS.
• Experience auditing entities listed on HKEX, including familiarity with Main Board and GEM listing rule reporting.
• Sound understanding of the role of the HKICPA as the sole statutory registrar and inspector of auditors in Hong Kong.
• Demonstrable ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently to deadline and budget.
• Strong grasp of independence, ethics and quality management requirements for audit firms.
• Confident communicator able to deal directly with senior client finance teams and audit committees.
• Fluent written and spoken English; Cantonese and Mandarin are an advantage.
• Track record of developing and retaining audit staff.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience within a mid-tier or larger firm with a substantial listed-client audit base.
• Exposure to mainland China group structures and coordination with PRC component teams.
• Sector depth in property, financial services, consumer or industrials.
• Awareness of SFC expectations relevant to listed issuers and their auditors.
• Familiarity with IRD reporting interactions and the tax dimension of audited accounts.
• A growing network of referral relationships in the Hong Kong market.

Compensation:

Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.
