Job Description

As an audiologist in an otolaryngology practice, you will evaluate and treat patients with hearing and balance disorders, working closely with ENT doctors to provide comprehensive care. Your duties will include conducting hearing tests, administering balance assessments, fitting and dispensing hearing aids, and providing patient education.

Essential Functions

  • Record and update patient evaluations, changes, progress, and treatments
  • Maintain inventory spreadsheet and place orders as needed
  • Understand and follow front office policies and procedures
  • Inform practice administrator of any compliance concerns
  • Call patients from reception and educate them on procedures
  • Place orders and collect payments for hearing aid and ear mold purchases
  • Send hearing aid repairs and follow up with patients
  • Prepare diagnostic reports and generate physician communications
  • Order and restock supplies and maintain room cleanliness
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and maintain confidentiality
  • Provide adult and pediatric audiological assessments including CPA and VRA
  • Conduct otoacoustic emission testing
  • Perform audiograms, tympanograms, reflex decay, and OAE testing
  • Perform hearing aid evaluations, fittings, and follow-up services
  • Provide vestibular assessments including VNG and CDP testing
  • Evaluate and treat patients with tinnitus
  • Fit custom ear molds and hearing protection devices
  • Perform Dix-Hallpike and Epley maneuvers as needed
  • Make ear mold impressions
  • Ensure audiology equipment is calibrated regularly

Physical Requirements

  • Activity includes walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Manipulating equipment and lifting/moving supplies.
  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds and push/pull 75 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment.

Continuing Education

  • Attends in-service education programs required for state licensure
  • Upgrades skills through job-related continuing education
  • Maintains legal and accreditation compliance
  • Updates job knowledge through publications and professional organizations

Education and/or experience

  • Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from an accredited program required
  • Current Maryland Audiology license in good standing required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical audiology experience preferred
  • Experience with diagnostic audiology, hearing aid dispensing, vestibular testing, and tinnitus management preferred
  • Knowledge of hearing aid technologies, cochlear implants, and bone-anchored hearing
    systems.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records.
  • Ability to work effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and families.

Total Rewards

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Specialty Care Networks’ salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate’s geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications.
