What you can expect at your practice:
Conduct hearing evaluations and diagnostic tests to assess auditory and balance disorders for all ages.
Interpret test results and provide accurate diagnoses of hearing impairments or balance issues.
Counsel patients and their families on hearing loss, treatment options, and effective communication strategies.
Educate patients on the prevention of hearing loss, including noise exposure risks and ear protection.
Perform otoscopic examination.
Make ear impressions.
Fit, adjust, and maintain hearing aids and other auditory devices (Cochlear implants and BAHAs if interested, not required).
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including auditory rehabilitation and hearing protection strategies.
Perform vestibular assessments and manage balance disorder treatments (if applicable).
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and referral services.
Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, documenting diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress.
Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and managing patient referrals.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in audiology through continuous education and training.
Implement and/or coordinate community, school-based, or occupational hearing screening and conservation programs (if applicable).
Supervise audiology assistants who provide support functions to the practice of audiology in addition to audiology students (if applicable)
Audiologist Requirements:
Doctoral degree in Audiology (Au.D) from an accredited program.
State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an audiologist
Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or equivalent (preferred).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively counsel patients.
Strong problem-solving abilities for developing customized treatment plans.
Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
