The Audio Visual Technician III is a senior field role responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and commissioning complex audiovisual systems in commercial environments. This position serves as a technical leader on job sites, providing mentorship to junior technicians while ensuring installations meet company standards, project documentation, and customer expectations. In this role, you will demonstrate advanced technical competency, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions
• Design, plan and install AV systems
• Provide AV installation project oversight and updates
• Inventory AV devices and materials intended for installation
• Test and verify functionality of newly installed AV systems
• Perform AV system maintenance and repair as needed
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum 3-5 years experience installing commercial AV systems
• Demonstrated experience leading field installations
• Strong understanding of AV signal flow and system architecture
• Experience reading and interpreting AV drawings
• AVIXA CTS certification (CTS-I preferred)
• Manufacturer certifications (Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Extron, Cisco, etc.)
• OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification
• Experience commissioning DSP and control systems
• Experience working in healthcare, higher education, or corporate environments
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• AV rack assembly and wiring
• DSP configuration and troubleshooting
• Control system installation
• Video conferencing platforms (Teams, Zoom, Webex)
• Structured cabling installation
• Fiber termination and testing
• Networked AV technologies
• System commissioning and verification
Physical Demands
Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds, and occasional lifting over 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Work Environment
Commercial construction and retrofit environments. Indoor job sites with occasional outdoor exposure. Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and ladder work. Fast-paced environments with project deadlines

Physical Demands
This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two-thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one-third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required.
Work Environment
This role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions. These may include outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware. Employees may be subject to frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
