Title: Audio-Visual Technical Coordinator (NWS 00944)

NWS executes and manages a wide range of technical services such as environmental investigation and restoration, construction, demolition, radioactive and hazardous waste management, public communication/involvement, information management, health and safety, industrial hygiene, and emergency response/HAZMAT services.

North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Successful candidates will be employees of NWS supporting the missions of their federal client, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in Livermore, CA. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and employment management functions are all provided by NWS. As an NWS employee working at LLNL, within the client’s environment, you will complete day-to-day tasks, with direction from technical personnel directly employed by LLNL.

The Computing Directorate has an opening within the Information Technology Operations (ITO) Division of the Livermore Information Technology (LivIT) Program for an Audio-Visual (AV) Technical Support Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and produce live-streamed and video events while diagnosing, resolving, and maintaining complex AV equipment and systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support onsite and remote events, including pre-event dry runs, event-day technical support, and regular equipment health checks.

Essential Duties

  • Work with a team to run event audio visual production workstreams, including live streaming via Webex, MS Teams, and MS Stream.
  • Collaborate with other team members to deliver results.
  • Work with a team to provide videographic guidance and manage technical execution of events including preparation, pre-checklist, design, layout, equipment, production execution, postproduction evaluation/follow-up.
  • Work with internal colleagues to produce proposal decks and activation/execution guides.
  • Setup and perform testing and problem diagnosis for projectors, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, and displays for on-site and off-site meetings and events.
  • Coordinate with AV equipment OEMs for resolution/workarounds, when required.
  • Assist with company meetings/functions that require use of AV infrastructure (audio, video conferencing, webcasting, visual display or projection, and control system (AMX, Cisco) operations.
  • Perform system testing to ensure equipment and room functionality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics, mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, computer engineering or electro-optic technology, or the equivalent combination of education and previous relevant experience.
  • Highly advanced experience in troubleshooting A/V systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience in developing technical process documentation and best practices.
  • Advanced experience in video and audio recording.
  • Proven success in working effectively and collaboratively with team members and all levels of staff and management.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours.

Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • NDI certification and Dante Studio certification.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in video post-processing systems.

Special Requirements

Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job-related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Pre-employment drug test: External applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a post offer, pre-employment drug test.

Anticipated Government Clearance Level: Q (position will be cleared to this level). Applicants who are selected will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matters. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
