The Broward County Office of Public Communications (OPC) is a fast-paced information office that creates and distributes communications to members of the public and employees, about the Broward County Board of County Commissioners and the programs and services of more than 60 County agencies. We are seeking a dynamic, team-oriented Audio Video Broadcast Specialist to join our Audio Visual (AV) team. This position plays a key role in supporting live broadcast operations, event production, and the County’s integrated audio-visual network infrastructure.

General Description

Acts as a producer, director, camera operator and video switcher and editor for live televised and webcast County events and prerecorded programs.

Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires an Associate degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of coursework from an accredited college or university in video production or closely related field.

(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires six (6) years in filming, editing, manipulating and converting video or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses

Ability to secure and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

• Provide technical support for meetings, events, workshops, and live government productions.
• Operate audio, video, and broadcast equipment for live televised and streamed County Commission meetings, news conferences, and public events; manage camera positions, switching, and overall production quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues within integrated AV systems and network-based AV platforms, including identifying and diagnosing problems involving switches, routers, IP addressing, MAC identification, subnetting, VLANs, and AV-over-IP technologies.
• Configure and maintain AV network components used for Dante, NDI, QSC systems, Crestron controls, and other digital signal processing or networked AV devices.
• Provide technical guidance to staff and end users on browser-based conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx, and Adobe Connect, as well as on associated peripherals including projectors, monitors, microphones, and room control systems.
• Support live and on-demand content distribution by assisting with video shoots, editing footage, encoding files, and preparing content for broadcast, streaming, and archival storage.
• Maintain and organize digital media files, routing configurations, signal flows, and production logs related to County broadcasts/webcasts.
• Participate in researching, evaluating, recommending, and implementing new AV technologies, networked systems, and workflows to support evolving operational needs.
• Collaborate with IT staff on network-related AV troubleshooting, device provisioning, switch configuration, and maintaining secure connectivity for AV systems on County networks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
