Job Description

Role Brief

The Australian Payroll Analyst will support the end-to-end payroll function across Australia Wide's diverse client portfolio. Working closely with the internal team, the role will support payroll activities across multiple client environments, each with varying requirements and processes.

The successful candidate will bring strong Australian payroll knowledge, high attention to detail, and the ability to understand and navigate different payroll scenarios and nuances. Following training, they will be expected to manage assigned payroll activities independently and provide reliable coverage across the payroll function.

Key Role Deliverables

  • Support end-to-end payroll processing across multiple Australian clients.
  • Process and review payroll information, including manual and electronic timesheets.
  • Apply relevant Australian Awards, superannuation and payroll requirements.
  • Support payroll onboarding and setup for new employees.
  • Manage varying payroll requirements and processes across different client accounts.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and follow established payroll procedures.
  • Work closely with the internal team during training before transitioning to greater ownership of payroll activities.
  • Support related administrative and cost/project accounting activities as required.

Education Requirement

Qualification in Accounting, Finance, Payroll, Business Administration or a related discipline is preferred but not essential.

Relevant practical Australian payroll experience will be prioritized.

Minimum Years of Experience in similar role

3-5+ years of relevant Australian payroll experience, with strong hands-on exposure to end-to-end payroll processing. Practical payroll depth and demonstrated understanding of Australian payroll requirements will be prioritized.

Technical System Experience

  • Astute Payroll – advantageous but not essential; can be trained.
  • JobAdder – advantageous.
  • Experience with payroll and timesheet systems, including manual and electronic timesheets.
  • Comfortable learning client-specific payroll systems, rules and processes.

  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end Australian payroll lifecycle.
  • Experience with Australian Awards and Award interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of superannuation and Australian payroll requirements.
  • Experience processing and reviewing payroll inputs, including timesheets.
  • Ability to understand and manage different payroll scenarios and client-specific requirements.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Ability to follow established processes and work independently once trained.
  • Ability to work reliably in a remote environment.
