Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Alongside our global campuses, we also collaborate with talented contractors and freelancers from all over the world to help us achieve our crazy big goals. While we support flexible, remote-friendly ways of working, for this role we're focusing on Sydney so we can best support our teams and keep collaboration flowing.

This role is a 12-month engagement, working full time hours per week.

What you'd be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve. At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Leading global strategic content planning for World Class in Social Studies/History/HASS - including topic chunking, learning sequences, and resource prioritisation across grade levels
  • Identifying curriculum gaps and determining the right production funnel (AI, localisation, EDU creators, partners) to fill them
  • Prompting, designing, and reviewing AI-generated educational materials to ensure they meet Canva's content standards
  • Briefing and reviewing new educational elements (illustrations, photos, videos, copy) for topic relevance, curriculum alignment, and grade-level appropriateness
  • Creating EDU creator briefs and developing decision frameworks to guide content production workflows
  • Working cross-functionally to embed new Canva capabilities into educational resources and support content health metrics by country

You're probably a match if

  • You have hands-on experience creating engaging, curriculum-aligned resources for Social Studies and/or History — and you genuinely care about getting the content right
  • You're comfortable working with AI tools and can craft effective prompts to generate high-quality educational materials at scale
  • You can zoom out to lead content planning across multiple grade levels, then zoom back in to review a single brief for accuracy and clarity
  • You thrive working cross-functionally and can proactively unblock issues to keep projects moving
  • You have a strong grasp of what teachers and students actually need in the classroom, and you bring that lens to every piece of content you touch

We’re building transformative tools and resources that help students unlock creativity, help teachers simplify lesson preparation, and enable entire school systems to collaborate visually. With World Class, we’re scaling a curriculum-aligned library that spans subjects, grade levels, and global standards—creating meaningful impact for classrooms around the world. Our work strengthens Canva’s long-term strategy in education and plays a crucial role in achieving our vision for global learning.

Other stuff to know

We make hiring decisions to engage contractors based on your experience, skills and passion. When you signify interest in the Project, please tell us the pronouns you use and any reasonable adjustments you may need during the contractor-accreditation interview process. About Canva

We're a global online visual communications platform on a mission to empower the world to design. Featuring a simple drag-and-drop user interface and a vast range of templates ranging from presentations, documents, websites, social media graphics, posters, apparel to videos, plus a huge library of fonts, stock photography, illustrations, video footage, and audio clips, anyone can take an idea and create something beautiful on Canva on any device, from anywhere in the world.

Since our launch in 2013, we’ve had the crazy big goal of making design accessible to everyone. We were founded on the belief that people shouldn't need to understand complex software to unlock their creativity. We’re leveling the playing field and democratizing access to design and visual communication by empowering 100% of the world to communicate in a way that was once limited to the 1%.

We've always had a deeper mission surrounding Canva — which we talk about as our 'simple' two-step plan: to build one of the world’s most valuable companies, and to do the most good we possibly can. We're committed to our core value of Being a Force for Good, so as the value of our company grows, so too does our ability to have a positive impact on the world.
