Job Description

1. Assists patients with non-clinical needs and ensures patients are comfortable

   1. Assists with skin preparation if required for pre-operative patients

   2. Provides portering services where applicable

2. Collects and returns medical record files from the various departments

3. Assists with patient meals times where appropriate

   1. Transports patients from one unit to another within the Hospital via wheelchair, stretcher or bed

   2. Demonstrates good bed making skills and ensures patients bed linen is changed daily at a minimum and more when required.

   3. Ensures quantity of bed linen is sufficient on a daily basis

   4. Responsible for cleaning of non-critical equipment/surfaces and daily dusting

   5. Transfers patients from bed to stretcher/wheelchair

   6. Transports specimens to Laboratory

   7. Assists with any administrative duties as required such as photocopying etc

   8. Escorts/guides patients/family/visitors to various departments within the hospital where necessary

   9. Provides excellent customer service to patients and families.

   10. Assisting with top of unit stores/consumables

   11. Ensures correct infection control protocol is followed when transporting soiled/clean instruments to and from CSSD as needed

   12. Demonstrates correct infection control practices

   13. Responsible for attending mandatory trainings as specified by the Organization.

   14. Assists colleagues, Supervisors, shift leaders or team members when not busy.

   15. Assisting patients with their belongings when discharged.

   16. Escorts patients to their vehicle by wheelchair or walking when discharged from the Hospital

   17. Prepares daily coffee and dates and distributes them to designated areas within the Hospital for the public

   18. Responsible for Inpatient room readiness for new admissions

   19. Ensures inpatients have easy access to basic needs like water, tissues, TV remote control

   20. Follows the reporting mechanisms / chain of command in the department ensuring all issues are accurately and promptly reported.

   21. Participates in orientation of new Ward Attendant to the wards

   22. Completes required annual competencies

   23. Demonstrates an economical approach to the utilization of supplies while assisting the Charge nurse to maintain an appropriate ward stock.

   24. Demonstrates strict adherence to all hospital policies and procedures
       

   25. Demonstrates knowledge and participates in fire safety, patient safety, infection control and the other necessary precautionary measures as per hospital

1. Ability to work flexible shifts.

2. Good command of oral and written English. Spoken Arabic advantageous.

3. Possess a “can do” attitude and a flexible approach.
4. Ability to multi task within the team and possess good interpersonal communication skills.
5. Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and in a team
6. Demonstrates knowledge and practice of confidentiality policy.

7. Demonstrate motivation to work in a health care environment.
