We’re thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an Attendance Officer to join our vibrant Functional Skills and GCSE teams' attendance at Sandwell College. This full-time role, fixed term until December 2026 roleis perfect for someone passionate about supporting students and ensuring their success through excellent attendance and punctuality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all unexplained absences are followed up and resolved promptly
  • Collaborating with course tutors to identify and support students with attendance challenges
  • Communicating effectively with parents, learners, and carers to address attendance concerns
  • Using college data to track attendance trends, maintain accurate records, and report on progress
  • Monitoring students on the at-risk register and liaising with Welfare and Student Support Teams to implement improvement strategies
  • Attending meetings and contributing to discussions on attendance strategies and interventions

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Experience working with learners or young people
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with a keen eye for detail in record-keeping
  • Experience working within educational settings or with cross-college teams
  • Familiarity with attendance monitoring systems or data analysis tools

Central Campus Sandwell College is one of the newest FE Colleges in the UK and is a landmark for the development of education and training in the region.
