PROGRAM: Athletics Swim Practice & Home Competitions

POSITION (S): Athletics/Activities-NJ Certified Lifeguards

REQUIREMENTS: Certified by an organization recognized by the Department of Health listed in N.J.A.C 8:26 Appendix A in any of the following NJ Department of Health approved Lifeguarding certifications;

• American Red Cross (2-year certification)
• National Aquatics Safety Company (1-year certification)
• Basic Lifeguard
• American Aquatics and Safety Training (2-year certification)
• Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid
• Thorough knowledge & application of lifeguarding surveillance & rescue Techniques;
• An understanding of facility policies, procedures, and rules;
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons by preventing & responding to emergencies;
• Enforces all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations;
• Recognizes & responds effectively to emergencies;
• Inspects the aquatic facilities before the shift & reports unsafe conditions;
• Report to work on time as per schedule;
• Dresses appropriately & identifiable as a lifeguard at all times;
• Guards the swimmers through vigilant observation & preventative lifeguarding according to PUBLIC RECREATIONAL BATHING N.J.A.C 8:26
• Perform such additional duties & activities the Superintendent may find appropriate & acceptable

SALARY/STIPEND: As Per Contractual Agreement
