Job Location: LAKEVIEW RECREATION CENTER - PEORIA, IL 61614
Position Type: Internship
Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 Hourly

Duties: Under the supervision of the Manager of Athletic & Recreation Services, the Athletics Intern is responsible for the following:
- Serve as the League Coordinator, responsible for being the main contact and direct representative of the assigned sports program.
- Oversee registration, coach team selection, and pre-season meetings.
- Develop goals and objectives for their experience and evaluate them at the conclusion of the internship.
- Assist in the inventory and distribution of supplies and equipment.
- Assist the coaches in the setup/tear-down of practices and games.
- Prepare records and reports including payroll, league/event schedules, evaluations, and marketing materials.
- All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities as assigned.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District’s safety program.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.
Essential Functions:
- Prolong standing, bending and stooping.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Safety precautions typical of the sports and fitness industry.

QualificationsEducation: Status as a current High School or College Undergrad student.  Must be at least 16 years old.
Knowledge and Ability:
- Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a flexible schedule.
- Display an understanding of the philosophy of recreation and sports programs.  Some knowledge of sports skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with private organizations and special interest groups.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.
