SUMMARY:

Casual Help staff provide essential game-day support for Hopkins High School athletic events. These positions may include ticket sellers, announcers, event supervisors, line judges, scorebook keepers, scoreboard operators, and other duties as assigned. Casual Help staff ensure athletic contests are conducted in a safe, organized, and welcoming environment that reflects the mission and values of Hopkins High School and the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with game-day operations by serving in assigned roles such as ticket sales, event supervision, announcing, line judging, scorebook keeping, or scoreboard operating.
  • Ensure accuracy and professionalism in recording scores, timekeeping, and game announcements.
  • Handle money accurately and responsibly when assigned to ticket sales.
  • Follow school district, MSHSL, and NFHS policies and procedures for event operations.
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up of athletic facilities as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the athletic director, game manager, coaches, and other staff.
  • Represent Hopkins High School with professionalism and respect in all interactions.

Roles may include:

  • Ticket Seller
  • Event Supervisor
  • Public Address Announcer
  • Line Judge
  • Scorebook Keeper
  • Other duties as assigned

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with game-day operations in assigned role(s).
  • Provide excellent communication and customer service to athletes, officials, and spectators.
  • Ensure accuracy when keeping score, operating scoreboards, or handling ticket sales.
  • Support a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Arrive on time and reliably complete assigned duties.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience working at athletic events is helpful but not required; training will be provided.
  • Strong communication, reliability, and professionalism required.
  • Must be available evenings and weekends during athletic seasons.

Work Environment:

Casual Help staff work in gymnasiums, athletic fields, and stadiums, often during evenings or weekends. Some roles require working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Hours & Compensation:

40 days total.

Pay range: $30-$70 per event depending on experience and events worked
