Athletic Training Supervisor

This position will work full time at 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday.

This role will predominantly work in a clinic setting.

The Athletic Training Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the provision of a comprehensive, appropriate medical care and oversight of sports medicine services at the assigned University/College following Prevea Health guidelines and procedures. This position supervises Licensed Athletic Trainers and Sport Performance Coaches and is involved of overseeing all operations, policies, rules, and protocols of the school's Athletics Sports Medicine facility. Along with the supervisor responsibilities, this role also provides athletic training services for assigned sport, including injury and illness evaluation, treatments, rehabilitation, referrals, maintaining timely/accurate medical records, and coordinate medical care following physician's plan of care.

What you will do

  • Serve as primary athletic training and medical contact for assigned sports, teams, and community events while coordinating all medical care for assigned student-athletes. This includes but is not limited to: coordinating communication between injured athletes, outside physicians, coaching staff and family members as needed and communication with medical director, athletic directors, all program coaches, and strength and conditioning staff regarding participation status and limitations to injured and ill student-athletes.
  • Performs full range of leadership responsibilities which include, but is not limited to; interviewing, hiring, coaching, and development of employees; managing performance and any performance issues; planning, assigning, and directing work; encourage innovation, teamwork, fiscal responsibility, high-quality work, and a positive/productive work environment. Front line management and problem solving of staffing gaps, scheduling, and performance concerns.
  • Administrative duties that include: all required documentation from patient/athlete encounters will be accurately completed following Prevea Health guidelines, maintaining insurance information for student-athletes while providing guidance on insurance/billing questions or concerns, scheduling of patient follow up appointments and serving as a liaison between the Sports Medicine Department and other medical services within Prevea Sports Medicine, HSHS and other area medical health system
  • Ensure adherence to privacy, OSHA, and healthcare regulations at the Federal, State, university, conference, and NCAA levels. Develop and enforce procedures to guarantee that all student-athletes meet participation requirements established by these entities.
  • Coordinate and document patient care through Prevea’s secure electronic medical record systems, SportsWare, Epic and Doc Halo, to communicate with all providers anytime within Prevea for specialized care in a HIPAA compliant process for all athletes.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Athletic Training program Required
  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training or related field Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience working in an academic or healthcare setting Required
  • 2 years experience working as Head Athletic Trainer in academic or healthcare setting managing budgets, staffing, polices and procedures Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • State of Wisconsin Athletic Training license Upon Hire Required
  • Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC) Upon Hire Required
  • CPR/Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from approved program. Required
  • Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), or Strength & Conditioning Coaches Certification by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) Preferred
  • Certification in specialty area, e.g. skin fold testing, casting, dry needling, etc. Preferred
