Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 Hourly

Job Title: Athletic Field Attendant
Job Status: Part Time – Non-Exempt
Department: Recreation
Primary Work Location: Community Recreation Center
Reports To: Athletic Facilities Manager
Supervisory Responsibility: None

Position Summary
Provides quality customer service to athletic participants of all ages by preparing fields for programs and events, answering questions, securing supplies, and representing the Wheeling Park District through positive community engagement.
Essential Job Duties
•    Quality customer service, working with groups of all ages (youth and adults).
•    Answer questions, promote positive community relations and represent the Wheeling Park District to various athletic user groups.
•    Arrive in advance of activities in order to open/close, and prepare field use for athletic events or programs.
•    Secure appropriate supplies for athletic programs.
•    Occasionally collects cash and/or gym punch cards. Being visible at all times in WPD approved uniform.
•    Monitor safety related to facility use and weather.  Make decisions in cooperation with officials regarding weather related program/event cancellations. Complete appropriate safety forms as needed.  Dispense first aid supplies as necessary.
•    Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
•    Participates in required training and safety programs as established by the Wheeling Park District.
•    Supports and exhibits the organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, innovation, recognition and appreciation, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.
•    Performs special projects or other duties as assigned.

QualificationsPosition Requirements
Currently attending High School or High School graduate preferred.
Skills and Abilities
•    Must have good oral and written communication skills; ability to work with minimal supervision, to solve problems and produce work on a timely basis.
•    Demonstrated initiative, dependability, good judgment, tact, analytical skills, leadership, and the ability to work in a positive manner with the general public, Park District staff and Board of Commissioners.
•    Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
•    A valid Illinois driver’s license is required.
•    Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
•    Must have CPR/AED certification or be able to earn within 60 days.

•    Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, twist, talk and hear; use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
•    Occasionally required to walk on uneven grounds.
•    Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.
•    Specific vision abilities are required and include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
•    May need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions
•    Most duties will be performed indoors, while regular events, assessments, and property tours will require the worker to be outside.
•    Driving to other park facilities will require the worker to be outside.
•    May be exposed to cleaning agents, fertilizers, and toner chemicals.
