Watertown Public Schools is seeking an Athletic Coordinator (one year, stipend position) at Swift Middle School. The Athletic Coordinator supports the Athletic Director by coordinating and overseeing all middle school sports programs. The Coordinator ensures students have the opportunity to participate in athletics that foster teamwork, growth, sportsmanship, and school spirit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience coaching or working in school athletics.
- Knowledge of CIAC and league guidelines preferred.
- Valid Connecticut coaching permit or willingness to obtain.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Valid Connecticut certification in administration (092) preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the organization, scheduling, and supervision of all Swift Middle School athletic events and practices.
- Communicate with coaches, student-athletes, parents, the Athletic Director, and the building principal regarding schedules, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure students, coaches, and programs comply with school, league, and CIAC eligibility requirements and regulations.
- Help arrange transportation, facilities use, officials, and event supervision for all middle school athletics.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and coordination of coaching staff as needed.
- Maintain rosters, records of team participation, and results of athletic contests.
- Promote good sportsmanship, safety, and school spirit at all events.
- Provide timely updates on athletics or related issues to the Athletic Director and building principal.
- Assist the Athletic Director in the development of the annual budget and requisition process for necessary supplies and equipment for middle school athletics.
- Under the direction of the Athletic Director, provides feedback and support to coaches regarding their job performance.
Terms of Employment
Based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement Between the Watertown Board of Education and the Watertown Education Association - One Year Appointment.
