How You Will Help the Team
The Welding Instructor plays a critical role in delivering high‑impact, accelerated workforce training. This position is responsible for hands‑on and classroom instruction, curriculum support, and student mentoring in welding processes aligned with industry and defense manufacturing standards. The ideal candidate is a skilled welding professional who is committed to student success in a fast‑paced, skills‑based training environment.

• Deliver hands‑on and theoretical instruction in core welding processes and safety practices
• Develop, update, and support welding curriculum and training materials
• Prepare students for industry‑recognized skills and certifications
• Evaluate student performance through practical demonstrations and assessments
• Maintain a safe, organized, and well‑equipped welding lab
• Track student attendance, progress, and performance
• Mentor and support students to promote skill development and program completion
• Collaborate with instructional staff to continuously improve training outcomes
• Support instruction across shifts, including evening or weekend classes as needed

This role is assigned to third shift and will work Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Your Knowledge & Expertise
• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications preferred
• Three to five years of industry experience in welding or welding instruction
• Experience with welding processes including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW
• Knowledge of blueprint reading, fabrication, and technical math
• Strong understanding of welding safety practices and shop standards
• Familiarity with American Welding Society (AWS) standards preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with a diverse population of adult learners
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office

Work Environment & Requirements
• Onsite work in Danville, VA is required
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on instruction
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Commitment to maintaining a safe learning and lab environment
• Flexibility to support program needs as required
