The Pay, Perks, and Benefits
- Annual Salary of $83,000 - $90,000

Hours of Work
The primary schedule for the incumbent is Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. However, you may be required to work additional hours as needed to cover multiple shifts or attend meetings.
How You Will Help the Team
The Instructional Specialist – Welding, Fabrication, and NDT supports instructional continuity, curriculum accuracy, and student success across ATDM’s advanced manufacturing programs. This role blends hands-on technical support, student tutoring, instructional coverage, and Canvas LMS ownership to ensure a consistent, high-quality learning experience across shifts.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining instructional standards, supporting instructors and students during normal operations and absences, and ensuring lab and learning systems operate effectively.
You will ensure instructional consistency across Welding, Fabrication, and NDT programs by stepping in to support instruction, reinforcing student learning through targeted tutoring, maintaining high standards in labs and safety, and managing curriculum delivery through Canvas LMS. Your work will directly contribute to student success, program quality, and operational continuity.

Instructional Coverage
• Provide short-term instructional coverage across Welding, Fabrication, and NDT, delivering established lesson plans, demonstrations, and lab activities
• Deliver extended instructional support in Welding, Fabrication, or NDT based on program needs and individual expertise
• Support Welding and NDT instruction as needed to maintain learning continuity and student progress
Student Tutoring and Success
• Lead scheduled tutoring sessions focused on Welding, Fabrication, and NDT
• Provide targeted coaching in technical math, blueprint reading, welding techniques, inspection methods, and process documentation
• Support test preparation, remediation, and credential readiness
• Collaborate with instructional staff on student progress, interventions, and skill development strategies
• Track tutoring participation, topics, and outcomes to support reporting and continuous improvement
Technical Specialist Support
• Partner with Technical Specialists to execute curriculum and program development projects and provide regular status updates
• Track project outcomes and identify trends, opportunities, and recurring issues across curriculum initiatives
• Assist in integrating new technologies into training programs and improving operational efficiency through best practices
• Support development and maintenance of Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and NDT procedures for training use
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve process deviations to maintain lab readiness
• Support internal audits and external program inspections and ensure documentation compliance
• Assist with fabrication projects to ensure alignment with engineering drawings, tolerances, and industry standards
Classroom, Lab Standards, and Safety
• Maintain 5S standards, classroom and lab readiness, and daily operational expectations
• Support safety protocols, emergency procedures, and safety briefings
• Ensure PPE availability and compliance with safety requirements
Academic Administration and Collaboration
• Assist with test administration, credential tracking, and maintenance of accurate student records
• Provide LMS access support and troubleshoot instructional materials and system issues
• Support student onboarding into systems, including enrollment verification and access to learning platforms
• Assist with tours, visitors, and stakeholder engagement activities
• Complete special projects to enhance lab operations, curriculum readiness, and overall student experience
• Serve as LMS Manager for assigned programs, maintaining and improving Canvas courses for technical accuracy and consistency
• Coordinate with the Canvas LMS Administrator to ensure proper course structure, permissions, and system functionality
• Onboard students into Canvas and ensure proper enrollment and access at program start
• Train and support instructional staff on LMS processes, updates, and system changes

Qualifications Your Knowledge and Expertise
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong technical background in welding, fabrication, and/or nondestructive testing
- Proficiency in technical math, blueprint reading, and fabrication processes
- Comfort working hands-on in manufacturing lab environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and instructional systems; experience with Canvas LMS preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively support and tutor adult learners
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and student populations
Preferred Experience
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- Experience in NDT methods such as VT, PT, MT, UT, or RT
- Lean or Six Sigma experience
- Experience with measuring tool calibration
- Prior experience supporting LMS platforms or curriculum development
