Fort HealthCare is a patient-centered hospital and healthcare system serving individuals, businesses and families in Jefferson, Dane, and Walworth Counties, and we are seeking an Athletic Trainer to join our Rehab Services team.

Shift:
64 hours per bi-weekly pay period
Part time

This position includes time in local high schools through our outreach program. The LAT will plan, coordinate and implement programs for the prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and emergency medical care for injuries incurred by student athletes. In the clinic, the LAT provides traditional athletic training and sports medicine services, as well as onsite services for the industrial athlete.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Performs athletic training evaluations and develops a plan of care that is appropriate for the diagnosis and age of patient.
  • Performs patient treatment as per the plan of care and modifies treatment plan based on ongoing assessment of patient condition.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the operation and indications for commonly used modalities and equipment.
  • Documents evaluations, daily notes, progress notes, and discharge notes in a timely manner; therapy charges are supported by this documentation.
  • Communicates and documents necessary information appropriately with patients, families, physicians and interdisciplinary team members
  • Provides coverage for athletic events per conditions of contracts that FHC is engaged in.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Read, speak, write and understand English; cognitive processes to interpret patient condition and apply appropriate procedures; operation of computer software programs; ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and work with fractions; adaptability to change; ability to cope with stress; ability to prioritize work and effectively manage time. Effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Working knowledge of sports injuries, first aid and emergency treatment and care of minor injuries.
  • Works well under pressure
  • BLS Certification; Valid WI Drivers' License; Certified by NATABOC; License or eligible to practice Athletic Training in Wisconsin
