Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide instructional support and assessments for students who are below grade level.
Create, manage, and participate in a variety of learning environments and activities in the applicable core content areas.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates for English Language (EL) Teacher positions should preferably hold a valid teaching license for the grades they will serve (K-8) and an English as a Second Language (NS) or a Bilingual endorsement. Minimally, candidates for this position must be on an approved pathway towards gaining licensure for the grades they serve (K-8) within three years and then obtain an NS or YA-YT endorsement within 2 years of certification.
Experience working with at-risk students, preferred.
Demonstrates knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory, second language learning patterns, and best practices in English language development.
Reflects an awareness and acceptance of cultural differences exhibited by the students and their families.
Possesses those characteristics necessary for acting as an advocate for multilingual families within the school.
Read, analyze, and interpret student academic data.
Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with classroom teachers, administration, and families
