Job Description

  • Primary Location: Tulsa Campus, Schusterman Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Principal duties and responsibilities of PA Faculty:

  • Teaching: Provide formal classroom instruction, course coordination, student assessment, and course evaluation for assigned courses in the didactic phase. Teaching includes utilization of the simulation center to provide experiential learning opportunities and procedural training. Specific duties include participation in the Bedlam longitudinal and evening experiences, including the supervision of physician assistant students in clinic, and implementation of course objectives. Serve as formal academic advisor to assigned group of students.
  • Scholarly Activities: Assist with program accreditation and self-study, obtain continuing education requirements, and participate in other activities that lead to new knowledge in areas that are consistent with the needs of the program and the profession.
  • Service: Participate in program and curriculum review and evaluation, Admissions Committee, Student Progress Committee, clinical site monitoring, student recruitment, and other roles as indicated. Ensure adherence to ARC-PA Standards and assist in program preparation for ARC-PA accreditation. Duties will also include time spent in a service capacity participating in college and university committees in order to address the objectives of the University of Oklahoma School Of Community Medicine. Serve as a professional role model for the PA students and as an advocate for the PA program and profession, including participation in state and national PA organizations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the clinical curriculum, including ensuring program curriculum and course syllabi maintain compliance with ARC-PA Standards
  • Develop and maintain supervised clinical practice experiences for students
  • Provide administrative oversight of the clinical year database including clinical sites, preceptors, student information, patient logging, and evaluations of sites, preceptors, and students
  • Development of instructional faculty and clinical preceptors for the clinical phase
  • Conduct onsite or virtual site visits to maintain compliance with ARC-PA Standards
  • Participate in the program’s ongoing self-assessment, analysis, and accreditation processes with primary responsibility for clinical education components
  • Prepare and maintain the clinical handbook and the clinical phase sections of the academic handbook
  • Serve as course coordinator for the Introduction to Clinical Year course and the applicable components of the Advanced Clinical courses
  • Perform other duties as assigned in collaboration with the Program Director, Department Chair, or other University authority.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher.
  • Current NCCPA certification and an unrestricted Oklahoma medical license (by date of hire).
  • Exemplary practice history and good references.
  • Preferred:
    • Teaching and/or administrative experience in PA education or other healthcare related field.
    • Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
