The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Assistant Manager is accountable for leadership of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) and/or Physician Assistants (PA). In addition to the advanced clinical practice, professional leadership, and organizational development/CQPI anticipated from every APRN, the AP Assistant Manager provides specific leadership of others. The APP Assistant Manager uses sound human resource and financial management principles and techniques to guide the provision of advanced practice services to patients and families and resource utilization. The APP Assistant Manager supports comprehensive patient and family services through effective collaboration with APPs and the inter-professional team to set standards for patient care quality and safety.

Responsibilities

- Clinical Practice: Expertly provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing care based on the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. - Professional Leadership: In collaboration with the APRN Nurse Manager provides leadership and oversight of the advanced practice programs and activities of the practice area to support high quality care of patients and families. - Resource Utilization: Collaborates with the APRN Nurse Manager and Department leaders to ensure the personnel, workplace, and technology resources necessary for the provision of safe, high quality patient and family care and to effectively manage the department budget. - Organizational Development/CQPI: Assists with the application of new knowledge and innovation to implement APP improvements at the department and organization level. - Financial Accountability: Utilizes professional activity and financial data to assist with the APP operating budget; optimizing APP contributions to care and formulating plans for new programs or services.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree and 2-3 years Advanced Practice experience and progressive experience in leadership roles.
  • Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas, Licensed Physician Assistant KS, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri, RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO required upon hire
  • Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri, Licensed Physician Assistant MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas, RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO required upon hire
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner Missouri
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner Kansas
  • AND successful completion of national board certification in one of the following:
  • OR Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) MO & KS Required Upon Hire
  • APP board certification congruent with population and practice setting (see policy statement: Advanced Practice Provider Roles and Practice Setting) Required Upon Hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
