Job Description

[What the role is]

Formulate, drive and implement antimicrobial stewardship, surveillance, and engagement initiatives in the primary care sector with the objective of improving appropriate use of antimicrobials and addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the community.

You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.

[What you will be working on]

Stewardship

  • Develop initiatives to promote judicious and appropriate use of antimicrobials in the community, with a focus on the primary care setting
  • Coordinate the development of guidelines in collaboration with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to guide appropriate prescribing in the community, taking into consideration local susceptibility data and practices
  • Monitor the implementation of antimicrobial stewardship programmes in the community
  • Build rapport with relevant stakeholders in the private sector to establish antimicrobial stewardship pilot programmes

Surveillance

  • Expand national antimicrobial resistance and utilisation surveillance programmes through active engagement of primary care stakeholders to contribute to a better understanding of community AMR trends
  • Collate, analyse and report data on antimicrobial utilisation and resistance
  • Present key findings and trends to national committees and follow up on recommendations on appropriate actions for mitigation

Education and Engagement

  • Formulate and drive professional educational initiatives targeted at physicians in the community to increase awareness of AMR and to optimise prescribing

Ad-hoc projects

  • Collaborate with stakeholders on priority AMR issues as they arise

Administrative roles

  • Undertake administrative tasks as needed to support divisional operations, e.g. procurement/finance duties, records management, secretariat duties

  • Engaging and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders across public and private sectors
  • Designing and delivering programmes for healthcare professionals
  • Working with epidemiological data
