Associate/ Vice President – Leveraged Acquisition Finance (LAF) & Financial Sponsor Coverage (FSC)

Location: India (Mumbai)

Business: Global Sponsor Coverage & LAF

This is a front-office role within MUFG’s Global Corporate & Investment Banking platform (AIBD), responsible for originating,and executing leveraged and structured financing solutions for financial sponsors and sponsor-backed corporates. The role combines Financial Sponsor Coverage (FSC) and Leveraged Acquisition Finance (LAF), with a focus on India-linked transactions.

The candidate will leverage MUFG’s global network, cross-border structuring capabilities, and product suite (leveraged finance, debt capital markets, syndication, global markets, and project finance) to deliver integrated financing solutions. The role requires close coordination with regional and global teams across APAC, EMEA, and Japan, supporting MUFG’s ambition to be a leading partner for financial sponsors in Asia.

Key Responsibilities

Origination & Client Coverage (FSC)

• Build and deepen relationships with leading financial sponsors active in India, supporting MUFG’s broader sponsor coverage strategy
• Contribute to account planning, client engagement, and origination of new financing opportunities
• Identify and execute opportunities across acquisition financing, holdco financing, refinancing, and structured credit solutions
• Lead preparation of high-quality pitch materials, market updates, and tailored financing proposals leveraging MUFG’s global capabilities
• Support deal execution including structuring, internal approvals, documentation, and closing
• Partner with global FSC teams to drive cross-border deal origination and client coverage

Structuring & Product Coordination

• Structure bespoke financing solutions across the capital structure including senior debt, mezzanine, holdco financings, and hybrid instruments
• Work closely with internal product partners (Leveraged Finance, Project Finance, Global Markets, Capital Markets Group, Transaction Banking) to deliver coordinated solutions
• Drive origination across INR loans, offshore facilities (ECB), NCDs, and HoldCo structures
• Ensure transactions are structured in line with regulatory frameworks (RBI, ECB guidelines) and MUFG’s internal risk and credit standards

Sponsor Ecosystem

• Maintain strong visibility on sponsor pipelines and transaction activity in India and across the region
• Track and analyse market trends including pricing, leverage levels, covenant structures, and competitive dynamics
• Provide actionable market insights to clients and internal stakeholders, positioning MUFG as a trusted advisor
• Support development of MUFG’s franchise with private equity sponsors and institutional investors active in India

Key Requirements

• Experience: 6–10 years in leveraged finance, structured finance, sponsor coverage, or investment banking
• Strong understanding of the India financing landscape including ECB regulations, NCD markets, bank lending frameworks, and cross-border structures
• Proven experience in structuring and executing complex financing transactions
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, cross-border environment and manage multiple stakeholders across geographies
• Strong communication, teamwork, and client engagement skills aligned with MUFG’s culture of collaboration and integrity
