We are seeking a Civil Designer or Senior Civil Designer to join our growing Engineering Services team. The role is open to candidates based on the Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton or in Brisbane

This is a hands-on role for a designer ready to take the next step – building technical capability, contributing independently to projects, and working alongside experienced engineers and designers in a collaborative environment. As a Civil Designer, you will demonstrate increasing independence, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to contribute confidently to project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare civil design drawings and documentation for infrastructure and land development projects
  • Assist in the development of site layouts, grading plans, roadworks, drainage, and utility designs
  • Produce detailed drawings including sections, profiles, earthworks, pavements, and stormwater systems
  • Support surface modelling, grading design, and earthwork quantity calculations
  • Coordinate with engineers and other disciplines to ensure accurate and integrated project delivery
  • Update drawings and models based on design revisions, redlines, and client feedback
  • Ensure drawings comply with drafting standards, project requirements, and QA procedures
  • Assist in preparing drawing packages for approvals, tendering, and construction
  • Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and project discussions
  • Maintain organised CAD files, drawing registers, and revision control systems
  • Contribute to digital engineering initiatives and continuous improvement activities

Qualifications

  • Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

Required Skills

  • Approximately 2–5 years’ (Associate) or 5-10 years' (Senior) experience in civil design or drafting within infrastructure or land development projects
  • Experience across:
  • Earthworks and grading
  • Roadworks and site development
  • Stormwater and drainage systems
  • Utilities and subdivision design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or 12D
  • Strong understanding of civil drafting standards and construction documentation
  • Experience with terrain modelling, volumetrics, and design coordination
  • Exposure to GIS or digital engineering workflows (highly regarded)

You'll be a great fit if you have:

  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to design quality and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • An analytical mindset and practical problem-solving abilities, supported by sound engineering judgement
  • A collaborative approach, with a positive attitude and a genuine commitment to team success
