The Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics (ACM) in the School of Engineering & Applied Science (SEAS) at Yale University invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.
We seek candidates from across applied and computational mathematics. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, numerical analysis and scientific computing; differential equations and mathematical modeling; inverse problems and control; and stochastic methods. We particularly welcome research that advances computational methods, including the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning for discovery in applied mathematics and scientific computing. Research motivated by applications is welcome when its contributions are of broad mathematical or computational significance.
ACM builds on Yale's established strengths in applied mathematics and on the University's strong tradition of collaboration across departments and schools. Its home in SEAS places fundamental mathematical research in close interaction with engineering and the applied sciences. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the development of this growing department and in building collaborations across Yale.
Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, or a related field. Candidates should have a distinguished research record and internationally recognized leadership in their field, together with an ambitious ongoing research agenda. Excellence in teaching and advising is essential, and candidates will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
