The Associate VP, CenterWell Facilities is responsible for facility strategy, financial planning, operations, and issue resolution across all CenterWell locations, leveraging a workplace shared solutions model with outsourced vendor support. This role oversees and plans annual facility spending for office services, building and grounds maintenance, and facility expansion or improvement projects. The Associate VP, CenterWell Facilities requires an in-depth understanding of how organizational capabilities interrelate across segments and at an enterprise-wide level, with a particular focus on enabling care delivery, member experience and growth.

The Associate VP, CenterWell Facilities is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of facilities across CenterWell’s national footprint including primary care centers, pharmacy operations, home health locations, and associated clinical and administrative sites. The role oversees facilities operations, maintenance, vendor management, capital planning, workplace experience, and operational readiness across a distributed healthcare environment. This leader partners closely with HR, Clinical Operations, Safety & Security, Procurement, Finance and Market Leadership to ensure facilities are safe, dependable, compliant, cost-effective, and capable of supporting exceptional patient, provider, and associate experiences that drive business growth, operational continuity, and enterprise transformation. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring a balance of strategic planning, operational rigor, financial discipline, and rapid issue resolution in patient-facing environments.

Impact

  • Radically improve Cost to Serve through portfolio optimization e.g., 15-20% reduction in total facilities cost per visit/per patient, renegotiation of major leases and vendor contracts delivering multi-year savings and establishing a data driven governance model tied to workforce and patient demand forecasts.
  • Build a resilient, zero disruption clinical environment e.g., no clinic downtime due to facilities failure (plumbing, HVAC, safety, etc.) enterprise-wide preventative maintenance and risk detection system implemented, standardized incident response + escalation model with measurable SLAs, measurable reduction in repeat infrastructure failures. Integration with clinical ops to ensure facility readiness for new services/expansions.
  • Enable AI forward, Next-Gen care delivery through smart, scalable environments – standardized next gen clinic design aligned to care models (primary care, home health, specialty etc.) facilities integrated into talent hub/workforce strategy (co-location, collaboration training) deployment of smart building/digital infrastructure (utilization tracking, energy efficiency, space optimization) Clear linkage between facility design and patient experience metrics.
  • Successful execution of growth, refresh, and transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead CenterWell facilities management operations across a large, geographically distributed healthcare portfolio including clinics, pharmacies, administrative sites, and support locations.
  • Drive operational excellence through standardized service delivery models, KPI governance, vendor accountability, and performance management routines.
  • Oversee facilities-related capital planning, operating expenses, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance for site refreshes, infrastructure investments, decommissions and operational readiness for new site openings or expansions.
  • Ensure reliable day-to-day facilities performance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, safety, environmental services, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Manage site selection, lease negotiations, design, construction, renovations, relocations, and exits, in coordination with workplace shared services and vendor partners.
  • Partner with safety and security leadership to strengthen emergency preparedness, incident response, business continuity and ensure facilities comply with healthcare regulations, building codes, safety standards, and accessibility requirements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Operations, Finance, Growth, IT, Procurement, and Legal to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Support M&A activities through real estate due diligence, integration planning, and post-close optimization.
  • Build and develop a high-performing facilities leadership team while fostering strong cross-functional collaboration across market and enterprise functions.

Leadership & Influence

  • Provides strategic leadership to internal teams and external partners supporting space planning, facilities management, and real estate operations.
  • Influences senior leadership and executive stakeholders through data-driven recommendations and clear articulation of risks, trade-offs, and opportunities.
  • Champions a patient-centered, clinician-enabled environment that enhances care delivery, workforce experience, and brand presence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in corporate or healthcare real estate, facilities management, and space planning.
  • Proven experience managing large, geographically distributed clinical or healthcare portfolios.
  • Strong experience leading outsourced vendor relationships and enterprise service delivery models
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing large capital and operating budgets.
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare facilities, regulatory environments, and clinical operations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Additional Information

  • This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and accountability and is critical to CenterWell’s ability to scale its care delivery model efficiently.
  • Travel may be required to support site development, operational reviews, and leadership engagement across markets.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$184,800 - $254,100 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
