Just like our global client and customer base, our people come from diverse backgrounds and our success is supported by our creativity, teamwork, and collective abilities as individuals to exceed the dynamic needs of our customers.

We provide the stability of an international industry leader with the career trajectory of a growing business. Our strategic growth gives our people at all levels rewarding degrees of responsibility and a richer work experience than a boutique firm or an established giant could offer alone. With a focus on growing and expanding our platform across Asia, we are committed to attracting, hiring, retaining, and rewarding the best-in-class talent.

Treasury is part of Financial Control Department (FCD) and is responsible for the funding strategy, liquidity management and treasury activities of Mizuho Securities entities across the Asia-Pacific region.

You will be responsible for supporting the firm's treasury activities, including funding execution, liquidity management, treasury reporting, and strategic treasury initiatives. Working closely with the Head of Treasury and other team members, you will play a key role in ensuring the firm's funding and liquidity needs are managed efficiently and prudently.

The role requires close collaboration with Front Office, Operations, Risk Management, Compliance, and other stakeholders across the Mizuho Group. The successful candidate should possess experience in funding and liquidity management within a financial institution and demonstrate a good understanding of capital markets products, trading activities, and their funding and liquidity implications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily and intraday cash projections prepared by Operations and assess funding requirements.

  • Execute unsecured borrowing and lending transactions, foreign exchange transactions, and interest rate derivatives to manage cash balances, liquidity, and interest rate risk.

  • Monitor Treasury P&L and financial risk limit utilisation for Treasury-managed portfolios.

  • Calculate and publish internal Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) rates for business units.

  • Partner with Product Control to ensure accurate implementation and governance of the FTP framework.

  • Liaise with Repo Desk and Liquidity Risk Management to ensure the adequacy of the firm's Liquid Asset Buffer.

  • Plan and source long-term funding via MTN issuance.

  • Produce daily, monthly, and ad-hoc management reports covering funding activities, liquidity metrics, and early warning indicators.

  • Prepare materials for management committees, senior management, and Head Office reporting.

  • Maintain regular dialogue with trading desks and business units to understand funding requirements and business developments.

  • Maintain and periodically review Treasury policies and procedures, including the Contingency Funding Plan (CFP) and Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) framework.

  • Participate in Treasury-related projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing funding efficiency, liquidity management, controls, and operational processes.

  • Support regulatory, audit, and internal control reviews relating to Treasury activities.

Role Prerequisites

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Relevant experience in Treasury, Liquidity Risk Management, Asset and Liability Management, or other related functions within a bank, securities firm, asset manager, or financial institution.

  • Candidates should typically possess a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience for the Associate level and over 5 years for the Vice President level. The role offered may be at the Associate or Vice President level depending on the candidate's experience, technical expertise and demonstrated capabilities.

  • SFC and/or MAS representative licensing is advantageous. Candidates who are not currently licensed must obtain the necessary qualifications and complete all applicable regulatory registration requirements.

  • Good understanding of capital markets products, funding and liquidity management, financial institution balance sheets, and relevant regulatory requirements.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyse large datasets.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with data analysis tools.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure and within tight deadlines.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and seniority levels.
