BACKGROUND
Claremont McKenna College (CMC) is a highly selective, independent, coeducational, residential, undergraduate liberal arts college. Established in 1946, CMC is a member of The Claremont Colleges, a consortium of seven independent institutions in Claremont, CA.
CMC is in a significant period of physical growth, with the funding and support of the Board of Trustees to continue to methodically and strategically implement its campus master plan over the next decade and beyond, which will double the footprint of its residential Claremont campus from 75 to over 150 acres (the “Roberts Campus Plan”). The Plan includes the Robert Day Sciences Center (opened in fall 2025 and named a significant U.S. architecture project for 2025) and the Roberts Campus Sports Bowl, a new sports and recreation complex, with Phase 1 expected to be completed in 2026. The Roberts Campus Plan also includes new academic facilities, student life and housing facilities, and enhanced pedestrian walkways and gathering spaces to encourage engagement and interaction.
The Roberts Campus Plan will support improvements in the central and eastern areas of the CMC campus, including the reclamation and development of the 75-acre site to the east of Claremont Boulevard that previously served as a quarry and that has most recently served as an inert debris landfill for The Claremont Colleges.

BASIC FUNCTION:
CMC seeks an Associate Vice President for Construction Management and Capital Projects to oversee the successful development and implementation of the Campus Master Plan, the new construction projects, management of a small staff, and coordination with vendors; serve as main liaison to the CMC Board of Trustees Campus Planning & Facilities Services committee; and work closely with local, state, regional agencies.
OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (EVP/COO), the Associate Vice President for Construction Management and Capital Projects (the AVP) works both independently and collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS & SKILLS:
EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business, or other related field, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is required.
EXPERIENCE Ten or more years of experience with increasing responsibilities in working with engineers, permit approval processes, construction management, project management, architects, contractors, and large construction projects is required. Experience at an academic institution or non-profit setting is strongly desired.
LICENSES: A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required. A valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured under the College’s authorized driver’s policy is required to drive College-owned vehicles.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.

REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College.

SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range is $190,000 to $230,000 per year. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
