The AVP – Donor Relations & Outreach (Mid-Segment) will play a strategic role in shaping Client's fundraising vision by building strong, long-term relationships with mid-segment donors. This leader will design donor engagement strategies, cultivate meaningful partnerships, and collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders. The role requires a thoughtful, persuasive, relationship-driven professional who can unlock donor potential and contribute to Client's long-term institutional goals.


Key Responsibilities


Fundraising Strategy & Execution


  • Conceptualize and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on mid-segment donors.


  • Build strong, personalized, and long-term relationships that align donor interests with IIT Bombay’s priorities.


  • Lead donor-centric initiatives that highlight IITB’s leadership in science, technology, innovation, and societal impact.


Donor Engagement & Relationship Management


  • Identify, cultivate, and personally engage with prospective and existing donors, including family offices and mid-segment philanthropists.


  • Understand donor motivations, passions, and concerns to co-create meaningful giving opportunities.


  • Represent IIT Bombay’s strengths, ongoing research, and strategic initiatives to inspire high-value engagement.


Strategic Collaboration & Opportunity Development


  • Work closely with academic and administrative stakeholders to understand institutional priorities and emerging research areas.


  • Co-develop new avenues for philanthropic support based on data, trends, and high-potential opportunities.


  • Partner with internal verticals to ensure seamless execution of fundraising programs.


Performance & Leadership


  • Lead and strengthen the fundraising team to achieve ambitious annual targets.


  • Monitor donor pipelines, analyze trends, and use insights to refine strategies.


  • Maintain disciplined documentation, reporting, and communication to support transparency and growth.


Education & Experience


  • Excellent academic background; preference for a degree in science, engineering, technology, management, or related fields.


  • 15+ years of experience in high-value relationship-driven roles—preferably in:


    • Product/Services sales to UHNI or Mid-Segment clients,


    • Family office relationship management, or


    • Nonprofit/education sector fundraising.


Skills & Competencies


  • Proven ability to build trust-based, high-stakes relationships.


  • Strong stakeholder management across complex internal and external environments.


  • Strategic thinker with the ability to link donor interests to institutional needs.


  • Highly effective communicator with strong storytelling and influencing skills.


    Prior exposure to philanthropy, CSR, or fundraising is a strong advantage
