Position Purpose

Come Practice Great Medicine With Us.

Experienced Associate Veterinarian | Avalon Family Veterinary Hospital | Orlando, Florida

Up to $50,000 Sign-On Bonus Package

There’s a lot to love about being a veterinarian when you have the right people around you.

At Avalon Family Veterinary Hospital, you'll join a team that enjoys working together, supports one another, and takes pride in providing great care. We're looking for an experienced veterinarian who wants to be part of that.

You'll have the freedom to practice medicine using your own clinical judgment, with skilled technicians and assistants beside you and colleagues who are always willing to talk through a case or lend a hand.

Your days won't all look the same. You'll see everything from wellness and diagnostics to dentistry, surgery, and ongoing case management. You'll have the tools you need, established referral relationships when a case needs more, and the freedom to continue growing in the areas of medicine you enjoy most.

And when the workday is over, it's over. There are no overnight or on-call responsibilities.

A Few Things You'll Find at Avalon

  • Clinical autonomy and the freedom to practice thoughtful medicine
  • A genuinely supportive team that works well together
  • Skilled technicians and assistants who help you focus on being the doctor
  • A varied medical and surgical caseload
  • Digital and dental radiography
  • In-house IDEXX laboratory
  • Cloud-based medical records
  • Established referral relationships and visiting specialists
  • Flexible scheduling and personal time away
  • No overnight or on-call responsibilities
  • Up to a $50,000 sign-on bonus package

Avalon isn't looking for someone to simply fill an opening. We're looking for a veterinarian who wants to become part of the team and hopefully stay awhile.

If you're ready to find a practice that feels like a good fit—not just your next job—we'd really like to meet you.

Essential Responsibilities

The Kind of Medicine You'll Practice

At Avalon, you'll have the freedom to be the kind of veterinarian your patients and clients can count on—from the first puppy visit to the complicated cases that make you stop and think.

  • See the whole patient — provide preventive care, diagnose illness, develop treatment plans, and follow cases through
  • Keep your surgical skills active — perform general soft-tissue procedures and dentistry as part of your regular caseload
  • Use your clinical judgment — interpret diagnostics and make thoughtful decisions based on what's best for each patient
  • Build relationships, not just appointments — get to know your clients and become the veterinarian families trust throughout their pet's life
  • Lean on your team when you need them — collaborate with fellow doctors, technicians, assistants, visiting specialists, and referral partners
  • Be there for the hard moments too — guide families with compassion through difficult diagnoses and end-of-life decisions
  • Keep excellent records — document care clearly and practice in accordance with veterinary medical and ethical standards

You'll have plenty of variety, the support to work through challenging cases, and the autonomy to practice medicine with confidence.

Requirements/Qualifications

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You’re an experienced veterinarian who enjoys the variety of general practice, values good teamwork, and wants to work somewhere your clinical experience is trusted.

You don't need to practice exactly like everyone else. We value different perspectives, thoughtful medicine, and doctors who are comfortable collaborating when a case gets complicated.

  • DVM or VMD from an AVMA-accredited program
  • Active Florida veterinary license or ability to obtain
  • DEA licensure or eligibility to obtain
  • Previous small-animal clinical experience
  • Comfortable with general medicine, dentistry, and surgery
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to connect with clients
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support the people around you

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to be part of the team—not just work alongside one.

Benefits Offered

Heartland Veterinary Partners

About Heartland Veterinary Partners

Heartland Veterinary Partners is a support organization that is committed to improving the lives of veterinarians. We purchase veterinary practices and provide operational support to relieve administrative burdens such as payroll, recruiting, HR, marketing and accounts payables. If needed, we invest to support growth. The practices maintain their unique branding, culture and clinical autonomy.

At Heartland, we believe that selling a veterinary practice shouldn’t mean losing what makes it remarkable. When we acquire a practice, the doctor comes first. We listen closely to their needs in order to create a one-of-a-kind solution to ease their administrative burdens—all without disrupting their day-to-day operations, the culture they’ve fostered, and the relationships they’ve built. In other words, the name over the door doesn’t go away. The headaches of running a business do.

Partnering veterinarians appreciate an improved work-life balance, less financial worry, and the confidence that their teams will be in good hands. Best of all, they get to focus on why they entered the business in the first place: to care for animals and to be present when their clients need them most. Practice team members enjoy the warm culture of their individual community practices combined with the support and resources that Heartland brings to the table.

Improving the lives of veterinarians means supporting them at all stages of their careers. Whether you're a veterinary student or a new graduate looking for hands-on learning to begin your career or an experienced veterinarian looking to tackle management and leadership opportunities, we keep your goals at the heart of everything we do.

The Heartland Support Center team is hardwired to serve. We follow the philosophy of servant leadership and put the needs of others first with a genuine desire to help. As a result, Heartland’s practices count on team members to be there for them with heart and solution, not a corporate agenda.
