Job Description

Across Canada, VetStrategy is a network of veterinary practices united by a shared purpose: healthy animals, happy owners.

We bring this to life through three promises:

  • Our People Promise – To be a great place to work.
  • Our Customer Promise – To deliver world-class veterinary care, locally.
  • Our Sustainability Promise – To be a force for good.

Guided by our values—We Care, We Dare, We Share—we prioritize well-being, embrace challenges, and foster collaboration. Rooted in passion and compassion, we support our people, patients, their families, and our communities. Humble and approachable, we achieve more together.

Our commitment to you:

Imagine practicing veterinary medicine in a welcoming small-town community while remaining just minutes from the amenities of Barrie and Simcoe County. At Elmvale Veterinary Hospital, we're looking for an Associate Veterinarian who values collaboration, quality medicine, and genuine work-life balance.

Whether you're an experienced DVM seeking a change of pace or a newer veterinarian looking for mentorship and support, you'll join a close-knit team that truly enjoys working together and is committed to providing exceptional care for every patient and client who walks through our doors.

What's in it for You?

  • Competitive compensation of $130,000-$160,000, reflecting how much we value finding the right veterinarian for our team.
  • Outstanding work-life balance with almost no weekends*, one extended weekday, and early Friday finishes.

(*Saturday coverage may be required on occasion and will be compensated with 1 weekday off)

  • Relocation assistance and signing/retention bonus potential available for the right candidate.
  • Practice in a supportive, community-focused environment where your voice and contributions truly matter.

As part of our network, you will receive competitive compensation, bonus potential, generous CE allowance, VIN membership, licensing dues paid, paid vacation, generous personal pet policy, great health benefits and access to our extensive network of veterinary professionals!

A Community of Excellence Awaits You

Elmvale Veterinary Hospital combines the charm of small-town practice with the support and resources needed to thrive professionally.

What makes us unique?

  • A collaborative team led by an experienced Practice Manager/RVT with over 20 years of industry experience.
  • Dedicated RVTs and support staff who genuinely work together and pitch in wherever needed.
  • A bright, modern, beautifully designed clinic featuring abundant natural light and ample workspace.
  • A welcoming culture that supports mentorship, learning, and development for veterinary professionals at every stage of their careers.
  • A relaxed GP caseload focused on preventive care, wellness medicine, and building lasting client relationships.

Why Elmvale?

Enjoy the best of both worlds with small-town living and easy access to urban conveniences.

  • Friendly community atmosphere and a lower cost of living.
  • Conveniently located just 25 km from Barrie.
  • Ideal location for families, with a primary school located next to the clinic.
  • Great local amenities and a comfortable pace of life that allows you to enjoy your time outside the clinic.

What You Bring

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Ontario.
  • A commitment to providing exceptional patient care and client service.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to work as part of a close-knit team.
  • Passion for wellness, preventative medicine, and high-quality general practice.
  • A positive attitude and desire to contribute to a supportive clinic culture.

About VetStrategy

Being part of VetStrategy is about being part of something bigger – an ever-growing community, where we connect person-to-person and skill-to-need, united by a common purpose of healthy animals, happy owners. From our humble beginning in 2006 to the present day, we continue to make a difference in the lives of people who have dedicated themselves to this industry.

When VetStrategy co-founders Orin Litman and his wife, Dr. Michelle Cutler, decided to acquire McLean Animal Hospital in 2006, they focused on three promises – our Customer Promise of world-class veterinary care, delivered locally; our People Promise, to be a great place to work; and our Sustainability Promise to be a force for good for patients, people and our plant.

Keeping our three promises led VetStrategy to become the leading veterinary network in Canada, with veterinary practices, 24-hour emergency care, and specialty hospitals coast-to-coast. We have developed and refined a model for supporting our practices across the country.

What we do:

We care for those dedicated to caring for animals by creating a workplace where we focus on innovation, engagement, and teamwork.

We know the blood, sweat and tears that have gone into building each practice, and we don’t want to touch that – we truly embrace the uniqueness of each clinic. Our heritage first approach means we won’t change a clinic’s name, culture or heritage.

We understand the challenges our veterinary teams face and are committed to doing what’s right – for them, their clients, and their patients.

We care about the future of veterinary medicine. Everything we do comes back to ensuring that veterinarians have the time, support, and infrastructure to focus on responsible medicine and quality care.

We believe in empowering our support office and clinic staff and providing them opportunities to develop their skills and grow in their careers.
