Job Description

Inwood Animal Clinic is a multi-doctor progressive veterinary hospital in the heart of Manhattan, New York! We have the latest in veterinary medicine equipment, and are expanding!

Located at the heart of Inwood, Manhattan’s northernmost neighborhood, Inwood Animal Clinic is seeking a dedicated Associate Veterinarian to join our close-knit, compassionate team. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality veterinary care in a welcoming environment — whether it’s wellness exams, urgent care, dental surgery, grooming, or pet travel certificates. You'll work with a loyal client base and enjoy work-life balance while making impactful contributions to pet health!

📍 Why Inwood Is the Perfect Place to Grow

A Natural Oasis in the City

  • Inwood Hill Park spans nearly 200 acres of Manhattan’s only remaining old-growth forest, complete with hiking trails, caves, salt marshes, and scenic overlooks along the Hudson River
  • Nearby Isham Park offers marble outcroppings, hilltop lawns, and community events like a spring egg hunt and Halloween pageant
  • Muscota Marsh, adjacent to the clinic’s waterfront, provides tranquil marshland views with kayak access and wildlife habitat just steps away .

Rich Cultural Heritage & Vibrant Community

  • Inwood is a historic, multicultural neighborhood — home to the oldest Dutch farmhouse on Manhattan’s island, the Dyckman House (c.1785) .
  • The Cloisters, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art specializing in medieval European art, shares the neighborhood with Fort Tryon Park, offering stunning gardens and sweeping Hudson views .

Community Events & Lifestyle

  • From the Inwood Film Festival and Summer Concert Series to the year‑round Greenmarket, the neighborhood hums with activity and engagement .
  • Residents enjoy easy access to shopping and dining along Broadway and Dyckman Street — from Latin American cafes to casual pubs — all within walking distance .

Convenience & Accessibility

  • Well connected via the 1 and A subway lines, Inwood provides relatively quick commutes to Midtown (around 30 minutes) while feeling a world apart from the city bustle .
  • The neighborhood presents excellent value and community spirit — quiet streets, affordable housing options, and a true “small-town in the city” vibe .

Why Work Here?

  • Be part of a supportive veterinary team that values your growth and compassion.
  • Work in a modern, fully equipped clinic open seven days a week, serving pets of all ages .
  • Enjoy life in one of New York City’s most inviting and green neighborhoods, perfect for nature walks, community involvement, and local discovery.
  • Full Time, Part-Time or Relief Veterinarian
  • Proficient in general medicine, surgery and dentistry

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
  • Active veterinary state license
  • Current DEA License preferred but not required
  • USDA Accreditation preferred but not required
