What you will do:

This position is accountable for performing routine Quality Testing of Gas Producers, Power Turbines, and Reduction Gearboxes to ensure conformance to Solar and/or customer specifications. Resolve and troubleshoot routine test facility and package issues. Acquire and review performance and vibration data required for engine acceptance. Accurately record and document test events and incidents in the Automated Test log. Assist Metrology and Maintenance during planned calibration or maintenance activities. Promote and demonstrate leadership and support of all safety, and lean initiatives.

  • Perform installation and removal of gas turbines and accessories.
  • Perform green run and final performance acceptance test of gas turbines.
  • Observe, record, and review test data.
  • Document test activities and incidents in Automated Testlog.
  • Support more senior Technicians in the resolution of skid or package issues.
  • Setup and use of all computerized data acquisition systems.
  • Assist Test and Product Engineering in the resolution of test discrepancies.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of test facilities.
  • Support and follow all safety and lean initiatives and requirements.
  • Mentor and support junior level Test Technicians

What you will have:

  • Requires good mechanical skills and the ability to operate shop equipment, bench tools, hand tools, and inspection and test equipment (micrometers, multimeters, and dial indicators).
  • Knowledgeable in the use and application of simple electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read Engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Contacts are typically with Test Technicians, other Metrology Technicians, and Test/Product Engineers.
  • Works under the general direction of the Test Manager, Test Coordinator or Test Engineer. Work is periodically reviewed for completeness and accuracy.
  • Typically 6 months to 1 year of demonstrated experience in a gas turbine environment preferred.

Pay Range:

$45,809.00 - $68,713.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
