We are seeking an Associate Test & Evaluation Technician with welding and fabrication experience to support the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Program (ICBM) at the Little Mountain Test Facility (LMTF) located at Hill Air Force Base (HAFB) in Ogden, UT. The primary responsibility of Boeing at LMTF involves the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of advanced nuclear hardness test laboratories, ensuring the verification of hardness and survivability for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) portfolio, as well as various other Department of War (DoW) and Department of Energy (DoE) programs.

Position Responsibilities:

• Welding and Fabrication: The primary function of this position is to perform welding and fabrication tasks. This includes interpreting drawings, selecting appropriate materials, and utilizing various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick welding) to create and modify test hardware and support structures. Welding will be conducted in cramped quarters, outdoors in various weather conditions, and may require working in awkward positions, such as laying down or welding underneath structures. Some welding tasks will involve galvanized pipe, and materials will include aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel.
• Assist in the setup and testing of customer-provided test articles in electromagnetic environments, including electromagnetic interference, electromagnetic compatibility, and electromagnetic pulse.
• Configure instrumentation and systems necessary for testing while minimizing risks.
• Directly support the EME Labs at LMTF by testing, operating, and maintaining test stands and support equipment. Design test hardware, software, and systems to meet testing requirements, and upgrade various test stands and methods, including hardness status, projection, data acquisition, analysis, and performance of hardened components.
• Identify solutions to basic issues and contribute to the development of processes, methods, and tools. Assist in creating test debrief materials.
• Work under general supervision while supporting the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and configuration of test stands, equipment, and interfaces.
• Travel Requirements: This position will require travel to job sites across the U.S. and potentially to U.S. military bases outside the country.
• Lead a team in conducting tests, compiling test sequences, monitoring test progress, and documenting test activities while effectively managing unforeseen events.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the operation, integration, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automatic test equipment.
• Possess a broad understanding of mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• Execute special test procedures as needed to support testing and failure investigations, preparing for subsequent test activities based on results.
• Design component and sub-assembly level hardware as outlined in the statement of work, utilizing analytical tools for design verification. Assist in coordinating the manufacturing and assembly of test hardware.
• Participate in test readiness reviews, safety assessments, and data/control systems checkouts to mitigate risks. Perform calibrations and system validations to meet test requirements. Configure software for data acquisition and analysis, and prepare daily execution plans for optimal resource utilization.
• Routing Conduit: The ability to determine the routing of conduit between two points in a complex environment will be desirable.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• 2+ years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience and technical education
• Experience in welding and fabrication with proficiency in various welding techniques and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
• Background in engineering test support within a test lab environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being capable of completing tasks independently with minimal supervision.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range:

$65,450-$88,550
