As our Associate Technical Lead (API), you'll play a key role in creating secure, reliable and well-designed APIs that connect our platforms and teams around the world. Working closely with Product Owners, engineers and technical experts, you'll turn integration needs into practical solutions that create real value for our customers. You'll also help shape the way we design, test and improve our APIs, championing best practices in performance, reliability, and security.

In this hands-on leadership role, you'll balance technical delivery with mentoring and coaching fellow engineers. Through code reviews, knowledge sharing and day-to-day guidance, you'll help grow capability across the team while driving a collaborative culture. You'll also contribute to technical roadmaps, explore emerging technologies, and continuously look for ways to improve how we work.

Whether you're enhancing existing systems, building new capabilities or solving complex integration challenges, you'll take ownership of creating high-quality solutions that are dependable and easy to use.

This is a full-time permanent position, where you will work in our office in Colombo, Sri Lanka. To provide the best experience to our people, this role would operate in our office with the opportunity to work from home on occasion.

Some of the essential experience you’ll bring may include:

• 4+ years experience in software engineering, including mentoring and providing technical leadership to fellow engineers.
• Strong experience building backend applications using Node.js, JavaScript and TypeScript, with a focus on clean, maintainable code, testing, and engineering best practice (OOP/ SOLID principles).
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and integrations in production environments.
• Confidence taking ownership of features/ workstreams from design through to delivery, including breaking down requirements, identifying dependencies, and contributing to engineering estimation and planning.
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases (such as PostgreSQL, MSSQL or MongoDB) including database design and backend integration.
• Experience in Docker and containerized applications, along with a solid understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Experience in AWS or similar cloud platforms, alongside modern CI/CD practices and automated deployment workflows using GitHub Actions or similar tools.
