The Associate Tax Consultant supports the Real Estate and Business Personal Property assessment review process to help clients achieve maximum tax savings. The role involves research, analysis, reporting, and collaboration with team members to deliver high-quality state and local tax consulting services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist team members with assessment reviews, including participation in appeals and hearings with taxing authorities.
Prepare reports and analyses supporting DMA’s recommendations.
Submit periodic status reports and prepare Reports of Findings for clients.
Utilize DMA templates and models for valuation, asset reconciliation, exemption/abatement identification, and tax savings opportunities.
Participate in on-site inspections of client properties.
Assist business development teams in identifying opportunities and scoping work.
Research and enter new cases, client assessment details, property data, and jurisdictional information into DMA’s review management system.
Support production and invoicing processes.
Track jurisdictional deadlines for filings, audits, appeals, protests, and tax payments.
Monitor industry trends, legislative changes, and tax developments.
Work independently on routine matters and collaborate closely on more complex cases.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or related field.
1–3 years of experience; property tax, valuation, or accounting preferred.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong interpersonal, research, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Valid driver’s license.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work Schedule: Regular, 40 hours/week
Travel: Less than 10%
Physical Activity:
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and sounds
Frequent repetitive motions with hands
