
Impelled by the mission to advocate for children and to advance Catholic education, the Associate Superintendent serves as a key leader for the schools of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Acting as a representative of the Superintendent, this role ensures school compliance with archdiocesan policies and procedures aligned to the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Schools, including Mission and Catholic Identity, Governance and Leadership, Academic Excellence, and Operational Vitality. The Associate Superintendent provides direct service and supervision to principals, conducting regular school visits, fostering collegial and supportive relationships, and completing thorough evaluations and documentation to promote continuous improvement and strong Catholic identity in every school.
The Associate Superintendent supports and strengthens school leadership by monitoring school culture and climate, guiding principals in effective governance, communication, and professional growth, and facilitating collaboration with pastors, boards, and home-and-school associations. This role oversees academic excellence by supporting instructional best practices, curriculum implementation, teacher evaluation, and data-informed decision-making. In partnership with principals and student support teams, the Associate Superintendent also promotes student well-being, social-emotional health, and the creation of comprehensive assistance plans, while providing leadership in discipline matters and appeals as needed.
In addition, the Associate Superintendent ensures the operational vitality of schools through oversight of staffing plans, enrollment management, marketing, advancement, facilities, budgeting, and grant opportunities, working closely with archdiocesan departments and school leadership. The role includes participation in accreditation, professional development for principals, safety and security training, recognition programs, and system-wide initiatives such as policy development and student information systems. Qualified candidates will be practicing Catholics with demonstrated commitment to Catholic education, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and hold a master’s degree in leadership or a related field, valid administrative licensure, and proven success in school leadership.
