We are seeking a highly motivated Associate to join the Reliability & Production Engineering (RPE) organization within Sales & Trading Technology. This newly created role will be a key contributor to the support and growth of Morgan Stanley's US Equities Overnight Trading business, a strategic initiative enabling near 24x5 access to U.S. equity markets. The position is based in Tokyo and will work closely with engineering, production management, traders, and business stakeholders across Tokyo, New York, and other global locations.


The successful candidate will provide production support for critical U.S. equities execution infrastructure, including smart order router platforms, exchange order routing connectivity, market infrastructure services, and overnight trading workflows. This role will serve as a primary technology contact during the Asia trading day, partnering closely with North American counterparts to ensure seamless follow-the-sun coverage and operational excellence. Morgan Stanley's overnight trading offering is being built to support the expansion of U.S. equities trading hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Support:

    • Provide front-line support for U.S. Equities trading systems during overnight hours.

    • Resolve issues such as order rejects and exchange connectivity problems.

    • Collaborate with traders and development teams to address critical issues.

  • Market Connectivity:

    • Support and troubleshoot connectivity to U.S. exchanges.

    • Coordinate with exchanges and internal teams during incidents.

  • Global Operations:

    • Act as the primary contact during Asia hours for U.S. trading.

    • Ensure seamless operational coverage with global counterparts.

  • Automation & Engineering:

    • Develop monitoring and diagnostic tools using Python.

    • Enhance system resiliency and operational efficiency.

  • Testing & Readiness:

    • Participate in testing events and validate production readiness for new features.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

    • Proficiency in Linux/Unix, networking, and Python scripting.

  • Business Knowledge:

    • Understanding of equities trading and market structure.

    • Ability to explain trading workflows and order lifecycle.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

    • Ability to prioritize and solve complex problems under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with front-office trading systems.

  • Knowledge of FIX protocol and U.S. equities market structure.
