As an Associate Software Development Engineer in the New Employee Recruitment Development Program, you’ll join a nine-month development experience designed for early-career technology talent seeking to build a career in software engineering. Through formal training, mentorship, certification opportunities, hands-on engineering work, and ongoing knowledge sharing, you’ll strengthen your technical expertise while gaining exposure to the people, platforms, and processes that power Schwab Technology Services.

In this role, you’ll contribute to meaningful technology initiatives that help Schwab deliver innovative, client-centric solutions. Working alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative, Agile environment, you’ll participate in the Software Development Life Cycle by evaluating requirements, designing solutions, developing and testing code, and supporting the deployment of technology enhancements. Opportunities are available across front-end, back-end, and full-stack engineering teams, giving you the chance to apply your strengths while continuing to explore and develop new technical capabilities.

What you have

Required Qualifications

• Available to start full-time on February 1, 2027
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, a related discipline, or completion of a coding bootcamp or similar technical training program
• Foundational knowledge of software development practices, including writing, testing, debugging, and improving code
• Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle concepts, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, and deployment
• Demonstrated ability to apply analytical thinking, problem-solving techniques, and fundamental data structure and algorithm concepts
• Experience gained through coursework, projects, internships, work experience, or technical training in modern software development
• Ability to collaborate effectively within Agile teams while communicating technical concepts clearly and professionally
• Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with building or consuming application interfaces and services that enable systems to exchange information and functionality
• Exposure to user-focused application design, digital experiences, web technologies, or mobile development concepts
• Understanding of database concepts, data modeling principles, and working with structured data environments
• Demonstrated curiosity, learning agility, and enthusiasm for exploring new technologies, tools, and approaches to solving complex problems
• Evidence of leadership potential through academic projects, internships, work experience, volunteer activities, student organizations, technical initiatives, or other meaningful experiences
• Interest in continuous learning, professional development, and building technical expertise in a collaborative engineering environment
