About the Role

Shape project delivery. Collaborate. Lead the next generation of transport investment decisions.

We are seeking an experienced transport professional or economist to play a pivotal role in leading transport investment appraisal and assessment work, providing technical leadership across nationally significant projects covering all transport modes.

The role offers the opportunity to apply strong economic and analytical capability within established assessment frameworks to inform strategic decision making, investment prioritisation and business case development. You will work closely with clients, internal teams and stakeholders to deliver robust, defensible advice, mentor emerging talent, and drive excellence in project delivery through high-quality analytical outcomes and collaborative practice.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the delivery and technical assurance of transport investment appraisal, economic analysis and assessment work across complex multi-modal projects, ensuring robust, evidence‑based and defensible outcomes aligned with client objectives and established assessment frameworks
  • Own delivery of allocated assessment and appraisal workstreams, applying strong project management and risk management practices to achieve agreed scope, budget, program and quality targets
  • Acting as a trusted technical and commercial advisor by proactively engaging with clients, internal teams, and key stakeholders to inform investment decisions, prioritisation and business case development
  • Contribute to the commercial success and strategic growth of the advisory business through efficient delivery of assessment services, support to proposals, work‑winning activities and development of economic and appraisal offerings
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to team members supporting development of economic, appraisal and assessment capability and championing an inclusive, high-performing team culture

About You

You are a highly capable transport planning or economics professional with strong expertise in transport appraisal and assessment, a client-focused mindset, and the credibility to lead delivery of robust economic advice that informs investment decisions while supporting the development of others and the success of the business.

Suitable applicants will be/have:

  • Tertiary degree in Economics, Transport Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Extensive professional experience in the Transport Industry
  • Exceptional consulting, client management, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence decision-making
  • Strong commercial acumen, business planning and budgeting ability
  • Advanced communication skills, with the ability to convey complex economic, technical and policy considerations clearly to senior stakeholders and diverse audiences
  • Proven project management expertise across scope, cost, and schedule
  • Strong understanding of transport policy frameworks, planning guidelines and evidenced based appraisal approaches used in major investment decision making processes
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
  • Adaptable, proactive, and committed to continuous learning
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to thrive under pressure
