Our Melbourne Disputes & Investigations practice is expanding and we're recruiting experienced Associates or Senior Associates to join the group. You'll join our team of experts who assist clients with their complex dispute and investigation matters, within a collaborative environment.
Our team
Our band-1 Disputes & Investigations practice, as ranked by Chambers Global, act in the most complex, high-value and reputationally significant disputes and investigations in the Australian market. We frequently assist with the Australian component of major international disputes, and have the capacity to conduct matters in jurisdictions throughout Australia and the Asia region.
We act in some of Australia’s most significant commercial disputes, including class actions, corporate disputes, and investigations, including inquiries by:
ASIC
AUSTRAC
APRA
Australian Securities Exchange
Royal Commissions
Senate inquiries
Our Disputes & Investigations team works without borders, so you will be able to work on matters in any jurisdiction. This will give you variety in the work that you do and the ability to work with many parts of the firm, each with unique backgrounds and life experiences. Our clients work with us because of our diverse teams, market leading quality and service and our strong track record acting in large-scale commercial disputes.
We're able to bring an innovative approach to the way we work too, by leveraging leading technology and expertise to collect, review and analyse vast quantities of documents and data. Through Allens Arrow, we combine low cost document review, AI and predictive coding with legal insight to help clients reduce costs and meet deadlines.
Your day
The range of services provided by the Allens Disputes & Investigations practice is varied. Your role within our team could typically include advising our clients on:
Commercial and contractual disputes
Class actions
Regulatory inquiries and investigations
Corporate crime
Royal Commissions / Commissions of Inquiry/coronial inquests
Risk and compliance advisory
Taxation disputes & Investigations
Projects disputes
Product liability and product recall
Insurance claims and advisory
Arbitration
Internal investigations
About you
You will have:
Strong technical legal skills in core disputes areas, including legal research and court procedure
Experience in commercial litigation, dispute resolution and / or regulatory investigations, ideally from a leading top tier, national or international firm
An ability to manage large matters effectively
Experience and enthusiasm participating in business development activities, such as pitch documents, firm-wide pursuits, article writing, attending industry events and hosting seminars
A desire and ability to grow, both as a commercial litigator and leader
An ability to establish a professional profile and internal networks
A willingness to develop others through mentoring and sharing experiences and networks
A willingness to build an understanding of clients and develop effective working relationships
