Global Investment Services

GIS provides strategic investment services and financial management across GIC’s public and private market asset classes. Leveraging data and emerging technologies, the department drives the development and execution of business infrastructure plans while shaping scalable, agile, and resilient operating models that enable growth and deliver operational excellence. GIS provides operational expertise spanning market settlements, transaction management and execution, investment data operations, portfolio finance, valuations, accounting, and tax services, as well as portfolio administration. Market Operations In this role, you will collaborate closely with investment teams and the technology group to enable scalable and agile front-mid-back operations support for investments across a global portfolio. You will manage a diverse array of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, currencies, and commodities, in both cash and derivative format. The team's responsibilities span across securities operations, derivative operations, corporate action, collateral operations, custody operations and network management. The group is committed to enhancing capabilities through robust governance and controls, as well as digitized processes and platforms, ensuring operational excellence and alignment with market standards.
What impact can you make in this role? You will be part of an integrated team that provides investment services across all public and private markets asset classes for GIC.
The successful candidate will join on a 2 year contract and shall work primarily in the Securities Operations team.

What will you do as an Associate, Securities Operations (Contract)?

  • Support Trading Activities for Securities Asset Classes: Ensure timely and accurate external instructions and bookings, ensuring sufficient funding and compliance with internal and custodian bank cut-off times.
  • Service Management: Monitor and enhance service delivery from Custodians, Brokers, and External Fund Managers, focusing on confirmations, settlements, transaction processing, NAV reporting and compliance monitoring.
  • Operational Efficiency and Risk Reduction: Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and accuracy, implement strategies to minimize operational risks, and maintain robust operational controls.
  • System Enhancements and AI Integration: Participate in system upgrades, automation initiatives, and user acceptance testing, leveraging AI for automation and data analysis, combined with a strong understanding of business needs, to enhance operational processes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with Asset Departments, Traders, and Corporate Services teams to facilitate smooth operations and effective communication.
  • New Product, Market Implementation, and Deals Management: Evaluate and implement new products and markets for investment by portfolio managers, manage deals effectively, and work with external vendors to keep track of market developments.

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher with at least 3 years experience in Operations, preferably handling Fixed Income.
  • Inquisitive and curious, detail-oriented, strong analytical ability, multitasking, excellent communication skills and possess a drive for excellence.
  • Constantly keep up to date with industry developments, resourceful. Able to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • A good team player who collaborates well with internal and external counterparts, self-motivated and enjoys working in a dynamic environment.
  • Some experience interacting with investment professionals and business managers is an added advantage, but not a pre-requisite.
  • Ability to identity issues and propose solutions to ensure smooth closure.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL skills are advantageous.
