QualificationsFor Languages other than English examinations, a scorer must - be a native speaker of the language with a college/university degree,
- OR hold a graduate degree in the appropriate language,
- or hold a Single Subject Teaching Credential in the appropriate language,
- or be a college or university educator who holds a degree in the language and/or has responsibility for teaching or advising students in that field,
- or have an authorization to teach the corresponding language in California public schools,
- or have served as a Single Subject Assessments for Teaching scorer in the appropriate language,
- or have served as a CTC-approved member of the appropriate CSET language test development and/or standard setting committee.
Applicants should also… - be a resident of California with eligibility to work in the United States.
- Possess basic computer skills (keyboard, mouse)
- The ability to sit for extended periods of time
- The ability to maintain a confidential work environment
Overall Responsibilities- Evaluate responses to test questions by California teacher candidates
- Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities
- Recognize and discuss various types of bias (e.g., implicit bias, cultural bias, leniency bias, central tendency bias, halo effect) and effect strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring
- Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring
Working ConditionsTraining takes place before scoring begins. There may be a brief orientation meeting before the day of scoring occurs.Scoring sessions take place during the week Monday through Friday. Scoring sessions will occur on an intermittent basis, two to three times a year. The scoring day runs from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4:30 p.m., including training.Note: Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.This position is NOT bonus/benefits eligible and information on benefits is offered
