Qualifications- A current teaching certification in the subject area you are applying for AND are currently teaching or have taught in schools (public or private) within the last three years (including regular substitute)
OR are or have been educators from colleges or universities who have taught or advised a content relevant field within the last three years
OR hold a degree in the content area and have held professional employment in the content area within the last three yearsBoth active and recently retired practitioners can be eligible to score.

Overall Responsibilities- Evaluate responses to test questions by New York teacher candidates
- Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities
- Recognize and discuss various types of bias (e.g., implicit bias, cultural bias, leniency bias, central tendency bias, halo effect) and effect strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring
- Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring
Working ConditionsTraining takes place before scoring begins. There may be a brief orientation meeting before the day of scoring occurs.Scoring sessions take place during the week Monday through Friday. Scoring sessions will occur on an intermittent basis, every 4 to 8 weeks depending on the subject. The scoring day runs from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4:30 p.m., including training.
