Your Role:

MilliporeSigma is looking for an Associate Scientist to join the Single-Use & Integrated Systems R&D organization within Process Solutions Product Development to support the mammalian cell culture applications lab. By performing routine tasks for cell culture operations, the candidate will contribute to efficient experimental and project execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail in the lab, and flexibility to support multiple projects. This position will be based at our Bedford, MA campus. Key responsibilities include:

  • Set-up and preparation of glass and single-use bioreactors, cell culture media, buffers, tubing assemblies, etc. for fed-batch and perfusion processes
  • Contribute to efforts of experimental design/strategy with support & guidance
  • Lead efforts for operation of cell culture experiments, including sampling, data entry, feeding, bag/bottle swaps, etc.
  • Organize & aggregate data from cell culture experiments, and perform some data analysis with support & guidance from manager and more senior scientists/engineers
  • If/when appropriate, present experimental results to project teams
  • Vial thaw, seed train expansion in shake flasks, and cryopreservation/cell banking
  • Support lab management activities, including ordering & stocking supplies, working with EHS to maintain compliance, coordinating service visits with vendors, etc.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Biology or other Life Science discipline

OR

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years experience in a cell culture lab environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You possess specialized knowledge equivalent to a relevant Bachelor's degree in natural sciences, such as biology, or comparable training equivalent to > 3 years as a laboratory assistant
  • You have effective oral and written communication skills
  • You have strong math skills up to and including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • You are familiar with scientific laboratory practices, equipment, and materials
  • You have experience with vendor management, equipment maintenance, and ordering of supplies
  • You have some lab management experience

Pay Range for this position: $28-$43 an hour.

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
