The PI is a pediatric cardiologist and physician scientist with background in cardiovascular genomics, vascular biology, and engineering. The laboratory conducts translational studies in pediatric and adult cardiovascular diseases and is in a phase of growth. The research currently focuses on diseases of the thoracic aorta including aortopathy and coarctation of the aorta. The laboratory performs advanced molecular testing and novel clinical imaging techniques to elucidate disease mechanisms that inform clinical treatment, operating within a precision medicine paradigm. The laboratory is located in the enriching and collaborative environment of the Vascular Biology & Therapeutics Program at Yale University. The laboratory collaborates with clinical subspecialists in thoracic surgery, cardiology, and genetics, as well as computational biologists and biomedical engineers.
The ideal candidate will possess strong experience and knowledge in the areas of cellular and molecular biology and have the ability to perform bioinformatics/systems biology analysis. The role will include bench work including tissue culture and tissue processing, performance of molecular assays, and data analysis. Eagerness to learn new cutting edge techniques is required. Evidence for clinical perspective is preferred but not required. However, a sense of purpose and dedication toward the goal of clinical application of research discovery is required. The career pathway focuses initially on development or utilization of research materials, techniques, or technologies, research method/design development, research staff and trainee training and supervision, and management/training for major laboratory equipment.
