Job Description

Our purpose – Opening up a world of opportunity – explains why we exist. Here at HSBC, we use our unique expertise, capabilities, breadth, and perspectives to open up new kinds of opportunity for our more than 40 million customers. We’re bringing together the people, ideas and capital that nurture progress and growth, helping to create a better world – for our customers, our people, our investors, our communities, and the planet we all share

Why HSBC

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

The Opportunity

As an Associate Relationship Manager (Grade 5) you’ll work within the relationship management team to build and deepen client relationships by identifying and meeting existing and prospective customer needs. The role supports Institutional Portfolio Group (IPG) Relationship Managers to improve client engagement and deliver needs-based solutions and fair outcomes for customers. You’ll also manage a subset of inbound client relationships as a primary local point of contact and step in as the focal point for the relationship when the Relationship Manager is absent. Success means turning customer research and analysis into clear proposals, well-prepared client engagements and well-managed credit activity. You’ll partner with product colleagues and Service Delivery to coordinate end-to-end credit processes and resolve issues quickly. You’ll also help protect the business through consistent policy adherence and timely risk monitoring and escalation.

What you'll be doing

  • Support IPG Relationship Managers to optimise client relationship value, improve engagement and deliver needs-based solutions and fair outcomes
  • Provide ad-hoc support to Institutional Client Group (ICG) Relationship Managers as required
  • Attend client meetings where needed to enable proactive client management and effective follow-up
  • Act as the first point of contact and primary local relationship manager for a subset of inbound client customers
  • Prepare customer analysis, proposals and presentations including industry and market analysis
  • Manage day-to-day client activity including planning, pipeline management, coordination with product partners and timely updates to data and call reports
  • Deliver financial, credit and profitability analysis and prepare credit, relationship strategy and risk presentations
  • Coordinate the end-to-end credit process with Service Delivery, review deliverables and resolve issues

What we're looking for

  • Bring experience supporting relationship management activity in a client-focused environment
  • Demonstrate capability to manage a subset of client relationships as a primary point of contact
  • Apply customer research skills to produce clear, well-structured proposals and presentations
  • Deliver financial, credit and profitability analysis to support credit and relationship decisions
  • Coordinate credit applications or renewals and manage activity through to completion with Service Delivery and partners
  • Monitor credit risk using management information such as concern lists and credit control reports
  • Apply effective risk monitoring and escalation across Global Standards and Anti-Money Laundering & Sanctions alerts
  • Work within regulatory, financial and legal requirements and ensure consistent application of Group Policy

Building value through client relationships

If you want to help Relationship Managers deliver stronger client outcomes and keep credit activity moving smoothly this role offers clear scope and variety. You’ll combine analysis with day-to-day client management and coordinate across product partners and Service Delivery to deliver at pace. You’ll also play a key part in risk monitoring and escalation helping protect customers and the business. Apply to bring your relationship support experience to a portfolio where good preparation and thoughtful execution make a visible difference.

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
