The Associate Relationship Manager plays a vital role within Standard Chartered Nigeria, based in Lagos, as part of our commitment to supporting and expanding our SME client portfolio. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth by proactively managing a diverse portfolio of small and medium-sized enterprises. Using a data-informed approach along with deep client insights and systematic relationship management strategies, the Associate Relationship Manager is essential in acquiring new business, deepening existing relationships, and retaining clients through tailored financial solutions. The focus extends across trade finance, deposits, and several business banking products designed to meet the evolving needs of our clients.

Portfolio Growth and Client Acquisition
• Manage, deepen and increase penetration of Existing-to-Bank SME portfolio accounts.
• Manage and upgrade clients to Relationship Managed level by increasing annual revenues >USD500 per annum while driving strong customer retention.
• Grow portfolio active clients to more than 80%, drive Straight2Bank (S2B) active clients and deposit book through structured marketing and relationship strategies.
• Build sustainable banking relationships, increase low-cost deposits from the tail base into a higher-revenue client base.
• Identify and sell relevant SME products through a consultative approach and a detailed understanding of each client’s business needs.
• Maintain a portfolio of active and growing customers.
Service Delivery and Collaboration
• Work closely with Trade Operations and Treasury teams to deliver seamless end-to-end service and timely execution of trade transactions.
• Improve customer experience and service delivery for SME clients.
• Provide client-centric solutions, and execute various banking transactions.
Sector Focus and Market Awareness
• Prioritise cash-rich clients and sectors such as Trade, Maritime, Oil & Gas, IT, NGOs, Health, Schools, General Commerce and other high-revenue segments.
• Maintain awareness of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates.
Strategy
• Implement Business Banking’s tail strategy: continually engage all clients in the tail base of Business Banking with a view to migrating them from Tail to qualified clients >$300 revenue
Business
• Increase revenue per client within portfolio
• Drive alternate channel sign up
• Increase New to Wealth clients within the tail portfolio
• Drive client account activity and Liability growth
For Existing to Bank (ETB):
• Initiate Client contact
• Complete CDD related documentation and ensure completeness of customer due diligence (CDD) information for clients that is current, valid and complete and check the quality of the CDD information, as required
• Checks compliance policy, completeness, and accuracy of the provided information.
• Upload Documents wherever necessary
• Dormancy reactivation
Processes
• Engaging tail clients who are not on S2B and then sending the referrals to the S2B team for onboarding and activate on S2B.
• KYC/CDD Transaction monitoring and Periodic/Trigger Review. The process of assessing the risk level of customer due diligence (CDD) of a client on an ongoing basis after the client is on boarded, ensuring that the client documents, information are kept up-to-date and the assessment of CDD/AML, Sanctions risks for the client remains appropriate. The process of on-going adherence to Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA requirements)
Risk Management
• Execution responsibility for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating financial crime risk, sanctions risk and reputational risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them
• Ensure compliance with sales processes.
